One of the final tasks I have to do with the VPForce FFB system I’m using for the F-15’s control loader is to permanently connect the power supply it uses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The power supply is currently separated from the main AC buses by a structural bulkhead. I decided to use what I think was a cable-bundle pass-through in order to pass the 120V mains cable for the power supply into the next compartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The existing hole in the bulkhead had it’s edge covered with a nylon guard called a “crenelated grommet<\/a>“. It’s designed to cover hard edges to prevent the edge abrading things that pass through the hole. I decided that instead of just loosely routing the cable through that opening, I’d make a cover plate that could hold latching connectors. The image below shows how that turned out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The end result is clean and looks great. The image below shows what the other side of that cover plate looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can see the crenelated grommet strips on both of the round pass-through holes. The cable from this side of the bulkhead is routed over to a set of relays that are controlled by a Raspberry Pi. I’ll cover that later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
