One of the final tasks I have to do with the VPForce FFB system I’m using for the F-15’s control loader is to permanently connect the power supply it uses.

The power supply is currently separated from the main AC buses by a structural bulkhead. I decided to use what I think was a cable-bundle pass-through in order to pass the 120V mains cable for the power supply into the next compartment.

The existing hole in the bulkhead had it’s edge covered with a nylon guard called a “crenelated grommet“. It’s designed to cover hard edges to prevent the edge abrading things that pass through the hole. I decided that instead of just loosely routing the cable through that opening, I’d make a cover plate that could hold latching connectors. The image below shows how that turned out.

The end result is clean and looks great. The image below shows what the other side of that cover plate looks like.

You can see the crenelated grommet strips on both of the round pass-through holes. The cable from this side of the bulkhead is routed over to a set of relays that are controlled by a Raspberry Pi. I’ll cover that later.
